MAVERICKS FC - A CLUB WITH A UNIQUE MISSION: DEVELOP THE PLAYER

Mavericks FC became a reality in Spring of 2017, however, the road up to that point took decades. Collectively we have over 40 years of coaching experience. Former players have gone on to join the Olympic Development Program at the local level, the state level, and Region 3, as well as the United States Development Academy, college soccer at every division, and professional teams. At the youth level our players have been elected to the Miami Herald All-Dade First Team, the Florida Coaches Association All-State Team, and the ESPN All-American Team. Moreover, our teams have won countless local, state and regional tournaments, as well as league championships.

Nevertheless, Mavericks FC is not about awards. Our focus is on players. We have seen competitive soccer and the coaching of it change rather dramatically over the past few years. In truth, the goal rather unabashedly seems to be to accumulate trophies through recruiting and/or playing at a lower level rather than improving individual players through real training. Of course, we like to win. Our victories, though, will be more often than not based on developing touch, highlighting technique, explaining tactics with purpose and clarity, and combining all of the aforementioned with real and measurable conditioning.
